Static IP Required for Chart Talk Desktop Users

Here is what is needed to run Chart Talk desktop after we upgrade the Chart Talk data  servers in the beginning of January 2019.

THIS IS ONLY NECESSARY IF YOU ARE NOT USING CHART TALK VIA WEB BROWSER – Before the move happens please make sure:

1.      Each location running Chart Talk has a Static IP address. You can sort this out with your internet provider. In many cases this will already be set up, if not please make sure that you get a Static IP address. (https://whatsmyip.com/)

2.       Please send an excel spreadsheet with all IP addresses that will need to access Chart Talk desktop. If a location is not listed in our firewall exceptions prior to the server move, that location will not be able to access Chart Talk using the desktop software.

3.       Please note that there will be no issue accessing Chart Talk Cloud, all the security has already been configured and tested. All users will have continuous access to all your Chart Talk data without any action on your part.

Please set as a priority to have your static IP address to us by January 4.

*Why do I need a Static IP address now?*

On our old servers we have seen a drastic increase in port scanning from Asia and Central Europe.  As an extra level of protection we are going to only allow traffic from trusted locations.

Chart Talk Cloud users already enjoy an extra level of security because the application servers are completely separate from the data and report servers
